Proteostasis

Proteostasis or protein homeostasis is defined as a process that regulates correct folding of newly generated proteins such that the protein is completely functional at its destination. It also is involved in the removal of incorrectly folded proteins, so that it prevents various disease conditions. Several biological pathways including protein translation, chaperone assisted folding and proteasome mediated degradation determine the cellular health and the proper functioning of the proteome.
