Adalimumab (Humira), a human monoclonal antibody that specifically binds to tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-a). Possessing a high specificity and affinity for TNFα adalimumab exerts its therapeutic effects by blocking the interaction of TNFα with the p55 and p75 receptors as well as inducing apoptosis of TNF-expressing mononuclear cells. Adalimumab can be used for the treatment of Rhcumatoid arthritis, Juvenilc Idiopathic Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Crohn's Disease and Plaque Psoriasis.
